An Update on Saskatoon’s Catholic-Evangelical Dialogue (Feb 16, 2016 meeting)

A few years ago, a group of evangelicals in Saskatoon initially appointed by our ministerial began to sit down with a group of Catholics for a dialogue, meeting regularly to discuss the ways in which our faith is similar to each other, where it is different and ways that we can work together.

Out of this process a dialogue statement has been produced as a work in progress… along with a number of responses from the local evangelical community. Some responses I’ve received from evangelicals are very supportive of this dialogue, while others seem to have some great difficulties with why there should even be a dialogue at all.

A panel will be speaking at our next Saskatoon Evangelical Ministry Fellowship meeting to answer your questions and address your concerns.   Come be a part of this meeting and let your voice be heard.   And as always, come for the fellowship… for the connection with other men & women of God in leadership in the church of Jesus Christ in Saskatoon.

Prayer – A Powerful Unifying Force

In my ministry travels both in Canada and in other nations, I have been fortunate to come across other leaders of ministerial organizations from several other cities.  It is interesting to see what other cities do and how they operate.   One powerful common thread I see in the body of Christ around the world is that prayer is a powerful unifying force for church leaders.  One of the most effective things we can do as we meet monthly is simply pray together.

Walls come down when we pray.  Lives are changed when we pray.  Ministry breakthroughs take place when we pray.   It is essential that we meet together and pray… and so this is the focus of our next Saskatoon Evangelical Minister’s Fellowship meeting.

Here are the specifics for our January meeting….

  • THEME: Prayer: A Powerful Unifying Force
  • DATE/TIME: Tues. January 19th, 2016, 12noon – 1:30pm
  • LOCATION: Riverbend Church of God – 306 Saguenay Drive
  • COST: $10/person for food & fellowship
  • Please RSVP to: semfellowship@gmail.com
    • If you are planning on coming, do not forget to RSVP

Nov 17 2015 – A Glimpse into the Future of Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide

A Glimpse into the Future of Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide

“I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel”  The Hippocratic Oath

This well known oath has been a standard in medical care for centuries, but in our day and age, there are numerous developments that have led to many physicians and health care professionals being put in compromising situations.   There are many Christian doctors and nurses across our country, and as the issues of euthanasia and assisted suicide continue to evolve, these health care professionals need our support.

Our special guest at our next meeting, Dr. Sandra Wegner, will address the topic of the future of euthanasia and assisted suicide… along with sharing about the holistic approach of the new Stonebridge Health Centre that is being developed in our city.    Dr. Wegner will be part of this new Health Centre, which will also be the new home of Christian Counselling.  Join us on November 17th as we look into these crucial issues affecting lives of those in our nation, and also hear about this new development in our city for a Health Centre that will be staffed primarily by Christian physicians and staff, providing resources for our community from a Christian perspective.

Here are the details:

  • DATE & TIME:    Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 from 12noon to 1:30pm
  • THEME:                The Future of Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide
